The decision to become a parent is to forever wear your heart on your sleeve. Children bring so much joy. It is also reality that parenting can be stressful. Parents want what is best fortheir children. Saying “no” can be so difficult, and still it is so important. Children learn to deal with disappointment with the support of their parents. Parents benefit from pacing themselves and taking well-deserved breaks. Doing things for yourself, (such as cultivating friendships, enjoying alone time, and exercising), is important. Parents re-energize themselves and they model self-respect for their children. When children see their parents nap, go on a walk, read a good book, or connect with a friend, they learn healthy habits for their own futures.
