Strategic Plan Update – October 6, 2009

In April we reported that seven action plans for goals of Robbinsdale Area Schools’ Five-Year Strategic Plan had been completed, and that many action plans were beginning to be implemented. 

In July the school board observed the one-year anniversary of the Strategic Plan and began conversations with new Superintendent Aldo Sicoli about next steps. The board had given district administration permission to put creation of action plans on hold while the details of district reorganization of facilities and the transition of many students and staff to new buildings took place.

Recognizing that less than four years remains on the plan, the board directed the superintendent to develop action plans more quickly.  A new direction was developed to create action plans based on the five priorities of the plan, rather than an individual set of objectives for each of the four or five goals beneath each priority. District administrators, principals, teachers and other staff have been meeting the last two months to create the action plans which will include measurable objectives, responsible divisions and timelines to accomplish the objectives.

WHAT'S NEXT?

• Presentation of Strategic Plan Action Plans to the school board. The presentation of completed action plans for the entire Strategic Plan will take place at the school board’s work session at 5:30 p.m., October 12 in the Education Service Center boardroom, 4148 Winnetka Ave. N., New Hope.
• A new Strategic Plan Update will be sent to subscribers of Discover, the district’s eNewsletter, and to participants in last year’s strategic planning process, with a report on the Oct. 12 school board discussion.
